Position Description
Work in a manufacturing environment supporting pipe mill and steelmaking operations.
Perform autonomous maintenance tasks such as greasing, oiling, and checking fluid levels.
Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and motorized vehicles.
Participate in continuous improvement activities throughout the facility.
Perform minor troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical problems.
Know the locations of all shutdown and lockout switches in the assigned area.
Remove scrap from the work area and keep production areas clean and safe.
Operate all floor stations in the assigned area.
Make equipment adjustments as directed by operators or supervisors.
Understand the functionality of equipment in the pipe mill.
Recognize quality defects and understand their origin.
Inspect pipe and immediately report any quality issues.
Perform essential floor operation duties to support production.
Help minimize delays by responding to breakdowns, making rounds in work areas, and identifying hazards or malfunctioning equipment.
Complete shift reports thoroughly and submit them to the Team Leader by the end of each shift.
Execute tooling and roll changes.
Make effective repairs to equipment within the scope of your experience and training.
Operate and understand QA tools and measurement parameters, including micrometers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Previous training and experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Experience with steelmaking and/or pipe mill operations preferred.
Must be flexible to work any shift assigned.
Must have general mechanical skills and be able to use a torch and tools effectively to complete tasks.
Must be willing and able to learn all area-specific floor mechanic responsibilities.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
